MonaLisa Touch®

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MonaLisa Touch®? add

MonaLisa Touch® is a noninvasive laser therapy used to treat symptoms of vaginal dryness and pain during intercourse. The MonaLisa Touch® can restore sexual intimacy by healing the tissue lining of your vagina, restoring its moisture.

Why would I choose the MonaLisa Touch®? add

The MonaLisa Touch® is ideal for women who prefer not to use or haven’t responded to estrogen therapies for treatment of vaginal dryness or pain.

What does the MonaLisa Touch® treat in women with sexual dysfunction? add

The MonaLisa Touch® treats genitourinary symptoms of menopause (GSM). During menopause, estrogen levels decrease leading to hormonal changes in your vaginal tissue. This can lead to:

  • Vaginal dryness, pain, itching, and bleeding
  • Painful sexual intercourse
  • Recurring bladder infections (UTIs)
  • Leakage of urine (urinary incontinence)

Will the MonaLisa Touch® tighten my vagina? add

The MonaLisa Touch® will not tighten your vagina or change its appearance. If your goal is to tighten the vagina, there are other options you should discuss with your healthcare professional.

Who can have MonaLisa Touch® treatment? add

You might want to consider the MonaLisa Touch® if you have any of the following:

  • Symptoms of low estrogen due to perimenopause or postmenopause.
  • Failed or cannot take estrogen therapy.
  • Vulvar skin disorders such as lichen sclerosus.

Who should not have MonaLisa Touch® treatment? add

The MonaLisa laser treatment may not be right for you if you:

  • Have an active infection (e.g. yeast infection, STI).
  • Are pregnant or recently gave birth within the last three months.
  • Take blood thinners.
  • Have significant vaginal bulging (pelvic organ prolapse).

How does the MonaLisa Touch® procedure work? add

The MonaLisa Touch® is a CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser. Specifically, it is a fractional laser that is divided into thousands of microscopic treatment zones to only treat a very focal area. It’s unique in that it treats both the surface and below the surface of the vaginal wall at the same time.
The laser beams stimulate your vaginal tissue to generate new blood vessels and produce more healthy tissue like collagen. It’s causing the vaginal lining to regenerate and repair itself naturally.

What preparation is needed for MonaLisa Touch® treatment? add

There’s nothing special that you need to do to prepare for treatment. Follow your normal routines and you can drive yourself to and from the appointment. It’s a relatively quick procedure with minimal pain.

What can I expect on the day of the MonaLisa Touch® procedure? add

Expect to spend 30-45 minutes in our office for the entire visit.

  • We will answer any questions that you may have.
  • You will undress from the waist down.
  • Our team member will apply local anesthesia cream to ensure the MonaLisa Touch® procedure has minimal pain. This will take 10-15 minutes to start working.
  • Finally, our provider will perform the treatment on the outside and inside of the vagina. The procedure itself takes about 10-15 minutes.
  • Relax with an icepack for 10-15 minutes before heading home.

What will I feel during the MonaLisa Touch®? Will the MonaLisa Touch® procedure hurt? add

As the laser device delivers tiny energy pulses into your vagina, you may feel a vibration or a tiny needle poke. Since we use local anesthesia, the procedure should not be painful.

What is the recovery after the MonaLisa Touch® procedure? add

Your recovery from the MonaLisa Touch® is relatively quick. You have no restrictions and can continue on with your daily routine. If your vagina feels irritated, you can try: NSAIDS (e.g. ibuprofen), ice packs, or lubricants. Avoid sexual activity for at least 72 hours.

How many treatments will I require with the MonaLisa Touch®? add

Typically women require three treatments spaced about six weeks apart. Annual booster treatments usually help to maintain your benefits.

How well does the MonaLisa Touch® therapy work? add

Studies have demonstrated that 80% of people are satisfied/very satisfied with the results of the MonaLisa Touch®. Symptom relief can occur after a single treatment.

What are the side effects of MonaLisa Touch®? add

The most common side effects with the MonaLisa Touch® are:

  • Irritation, swelling and/or at the vaginal opening.
  • Light bleeding or vaginal discharge (usually pink or brown).
  • Itching or burning sensation when you pee.

How much does MonaLisa Touch® treatment cost? add

The cost of the MonaLisa Touch® treatment is $500 (outside of vagina only) to $700 (inside/outside of vagina). Three treatment sessions are sold for $1,800. Most people need to return every 12 to 18 months for touch-ups.

VTone

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the VTone? add

VTone is a minimally-invasive therapy that strengthens the muscles of the pelvic floor. It is an FDA form of Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) used to improve bladder leakage and sexual satisfaction in women looking for non-surgical, safe therapies.

How is the VTone performed? add

VTone is a quick and painless office-based procedure completed in 30 minutes, without anesthesia, surgery, or downtime. A small device is placed into the vaginal canal to cause involuntary pelvic floor muscle contractions. These contractions tighten pelvic floor muscle fibers, which get weakened or overstretched during pregnancy and childbirth.

What is the recovery from the VTone? add

Recovery from the VTone is relatively fast and uneventful. You may be sore in your pelvic region for a day or two like you just had a good workout. There are no serious risks to the VTone.

Am I a candidate for the VTone? add

VTone is recommended for any woman with bladder leakage (urinary incontinence) who wishes to avoid surgery. Women who wish to improve their sexual satisfaction may also benefit from the VTone treatment.

Is anyone not a candidate for the VTone? add

If you already have tight pelvic floor muscles, then the VTone treatment may not be right for you. If you have an electrical stimulator in your body such as a cardiac pacemaker then you should notify your provider to see if you are a candidate for the VTone.

What results can I expect with VTone? add

Results are optimal about 1-2 weeks after their final treatment. VTone treatments are performed in the office, usually in a series of 3-6 treatments. Maintenance treatments are performed annually.

FormaV

Frequently Asked Questions

What is FormaV? add

FormaV is a minimally invasive treatment using radiofrequency energy designed to improve blood circulation and the production of collagen in the vagina and pelvic floor. FormaV delivers the energy in a precisely controlled way to ensure safe heat delivery without burns. The controlled heating stimulates collagen production, enhancing overall vaginal health.

What symptoms does FormaV treat? add

FormaV is highly effective in:

  • Reducing stress urinary incontinence (bladder leakage with movement).
  • Treating vaginal dryness.
  • Relieving dyspareunia (painful intercourse).
  • Improving sexual satisfaction.
  • Addressing vaginal and vulvar laxity.

What can I expect from the FormaV treatment? add

FormaV is performed in our office and takes 20-30 minutes. The steps include:

  • Planning the treatment based on your vaginal anatomy for optimal results.
  • A topical anesthetic will be applied to the vagina to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
  • The FormaV wand is inserted into the vaginal canal, and it will be slowly rotated to ensure an even distribution of radiofrequency energy to the vaginal walls.
  • You can drive yourself home with minimal downtime and recovery.

What is the recovery after FormaV? add

Typically there is little downtime. It is normal to have mild sensitivity or discomfort, but these symptoms will quickly disappear. Most patients can resume normal activity almost immediately. The exception is sexual intercourse should be avoided for one week to ensure proper healing.

How many FormaV treatments are necessary to see results? add

Best results are typically seen with a series of 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Morpheus8V

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Morpheus8V? add

Morpheus8V is an FDA-approved, non-surgical procedure designed to treat a variety of pelvic floor issues in women, including vaginal pain, laxity, and vulvar skin conditions such as lichen sclerosus. It is an innovative combination therapy of radiofrequency and microneedling, which stimulates collagen formation and natural tissue repair. This results in the shrinkage and tightening of vaginal tissue.

What is radiofrequency (RF)? add

Radiofrequency (RF) energy is around all of us right now. However, when we deploy it in a focused way, it causes the remodeling of the vaginal tissues. This leads to tightening, thickening, and renewing of the vaginal and vulvar tissue.

What is microneedling and how does it help? add

Microneedling is a proven and effective therapy that has been used on the face and body for years. Using ultra-fine needles, micro-injuries are made on the tissue leading to collagen and elastin formation. Collagen and elastin are the building blocks of new, elastic, healthier tissue.

What are the benefits of combining radiofrequency energy with microneedling in the Morpheus8V? add

By combining RF energy at the same time as the microneedling, the body responds more strongly to produce new collagen. This leads to healthier tissues and better results than either therapy alone.

What symptoms can the Morpheus8V treat? add

Childbirth, aging, hormonal changes, surgery, and genetics can lead to a number of changes in the vagina. These changes lead to many common symptoms that women suffer with including:

  • Painful sex
  • Loose vagina walls
  • Vaginal dryness and itching
  • Decreased vaginal sensation
  • Bladder leakage (urinary incontinence)
  • Sagging, wrinkled, or enlarged labia

The Morpheus8V can address any or all of these issues.

What are the benefits of Morpheus8V? add

The Morpheus8V has a number of benefits including:

  • Effective, non-surgical therapy
  • Minimal recovery period or downtime
  • Safe, FDA-approved treatment
  • Short treatment (30 minutes)
  • Improves bladder leakage
  • Enhances sexual satisfaction

What is the recovery from the Morpheus8V? add

You can drive yourself home after the Morpheus8V treatments and resume your daily activities. You may experience some soreness, redness, and discomfort, which should improve over the next few days. These symptoms can usually be treated with icepacks and Tylenol/Ibuprofen. The only restrictions are to avoid intercourse, tampons, and hot tubs or baths for 3-7 days following treatment.

Do I need multiple treatments with the Morpheus8V? add

For optimal results, up to 3 sessions are recommended, usually spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

How long will the results of the Morpheus8V last? add

The results of Morpheus8V therapy typically last 12-18 months. Since the aging process continues, many patients choose a single yearly “touch up” treatment to maintain the excellent results.

How long does the Morpheus8V procedure take to perform? add

The Morpheus8V procedure typically takes 20-30 minutes.

What preparation is required for the Morpheus8V? add

In order to get the best results and have an uneventful recovery from the procedure you should:

  • Avoid blood thinner medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Fish Oil, Ginkgo Biloba, and Vitamin E for 1 week before the procedure.
  • Ideally stop smoking for at least 2 weeks before the procedure because smoking slows down the healing process.
  • Avoid alcohol for 2 days leading up to the treatment.
  • Do not wax around the bikini area within 1 week of the procedure.

What happens during the Morpheus 8V procedure? add

You will get undressed in one of our private exam rooms. Our team member will numb the labia and vaginal area with a topical cream. A tube-shaped wand is inserted into the vagina and gently moved around to ensure treatment of the entire vaginal canal. The procedure typically takes 20-30 minutes.
