Hormone Optimization for Women

Let us help you fine tune your levels with BioTE®.

How Hormone Imbalance Affects You

Do you feel like no matter how well you eat, you can’t seem to shed those extra pounds? Has the energy to hit the gym disappeared? Do you just not “feel right”? It’s quite possible that you are dealing with the effects of female sex hormone imbalance.

You’re not alone. Hormone imbalance affects millions of women. Mood swings, hot flashes, loss of interest in sex, and decreased energy are just some of the symptoms of low estrogen, low testosterone, or both in women.

Unfortunately, the medical community is more focused on “sick” care instead of “health” care. Your doctor may have told you that “you’re just getting older” and there’s “nothing to do.” Or even worse, you may be scared of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) because you’ve been told myths such as that HRT causes heart disease, strokes, and cancer. Lucky for you, these myths are simply not true.

Bio-identical hormone pellets with BioTE® may be your solution. A better version of yourself is 5 minutes away with this safe and effective therapy.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Although hormone replacement therapy in women can be given by injections, patches and creams, we believe that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) has the following benefits:

Convenience

Instead of painful weekly injections or daily topical therapy, BioTE® pellet therapy is performed during a short office procedure, and the effects last 3-5 months.

Consistency

Other forms of BHRT cause fluctuating hormone levels. Biote® pellet therapy effectively keeps your hormone levels right where you need them in an appropriate and consistent range.

Safety

BioTE® pellets are created with the highest standards using only natural substances.

Personalization

A proprietary BioTE® database allows us to personalize the dosage of your BioTE® pellet therapy. You’ll receive a dose that’s right for you. No more guessing.

What is BioTE® and How Does it Work?

BioTE® is a form of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT).

Bio-identical means that the pellets have the exact chemical structure as your body’s natural hormones. In contrast, synthetic hormones contain unnecessary chemicals and in some cases are made from horse urine (yes, you heard that right).

Bio-identical hormones are safe and natural. They are made from vegetables and 100% vegan.

BioTE® pellets are smaller than a grain of rice. Through a simple 5-minute procedure in the office, the pellets are inserted underneath the skin of the upper buttocks area. You won’t see them or feel them.

The BioTE® pellets are then slowly absorbed into your bloodstream over several months. This mimics the natural release of hormones in amounts that your body is accustomed to needing. You may start noticing the positive effects within a few weeks, but it may take your body a few months to feel the full effects of bioidentical pellets.

How Much Does BioTE® Cost?

The cost of the BioTE® hormone pellet therapy insertion is $450 for females. Full payment is expected at the time of the procedure. This does not include the cost of the consultation and lab tests, which can be run through your insurance plan.

Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the cost of BioTE® hormone pellet therapy. We do however offer patient financing through Healthcare Financing of America (HFA) and Care Credit (view options in our Patient Portal).

Common BioTE® Questions

How long before hormone pellets take effect?

Every patient’s symptoms are unique, so each journey after BioTE® hormone pellet insertion varies. Some patients report seeing improvement in as little as one week, but full optimization can take up to 6 months. Many patients report feeling the benefits after the second insertion.

What are side effects of BioTE® hormone pellet therapy?

Bothersome side effects after BioTE® hormone pellet therapy are uncommon. Some women will report:

  • Hair loss (1%)
  • Unintended hair growth (e.g. facial, arms)
  • Acne
  • Oily skin
  • Vaginal spotting (if uterus present)
  • Mood swings

What are BioTE® pellets made of?

BioTE® pellets are made from yams or soy. Believe it or not, these vegetables contain steroid molecules that are used to create estradiol and/or testosterone. So rest assured that BioTE® pellets are 100% vegan.

What should I expect after the BioTE® pellet insertion?

Again, everyone has a different experience after BioTE® hormone pellet insertion. However, you should expect to see improvement in:

  • Hot flashes (suddenly feeling very warm) and/or night sweats
  • Trouble sleeping

Where can I buy BioTE® supplements?

You can purchase BioTE® supplements right here on our website (account creation required)! We have an online store through BioTE® that offers high-quality, medical-grade supplements. We believe it’s important to put only high quality products into your body.

How long after BioTE® pellet insertion can I exercise? What are my limitations after pellet insertion?

It is recommended not to do lower body exercises or other strenuous activity for at least three days following pellet insertion. Walking should not be a problem, but more vigorous activity is not recommended. Hot tubs, bath tubs, and pools should be avoided, but showers are allowed.

You may remove the outer bandage and gauze after 48 hours. Against your skin is a layer of SteriStrips that may fall off on their own or can be removed after 3 days. You may resume normal activity once the bandage is removed.

What does a BioTE® insertion feel like?

The BioTE® hormone pellet insertion process for women is usually easy. First, you are brought into the exam room and asked to lay on your side on an exam table. The insertion site, usually somewhere around the upper buttocks, is numbed and cleaned. A small incision is made, and the hormone pellets are inserted with a small trocar.

Afterward, the insertion site is covered with a small bandage. The pellets dissolve over time, and the body absorbs the contents, leaving nothing behind. We will have you go to the lab for another blood draw 5-6 weeks following your first pellet insertion to measure your hormone levels again. We will then have a follow-up appointment to assess how you are feeling 6 weeks following pellet insertion.
