So the recovery after a vasectomy again varies from man to man. I tell most men for a minimum of three days, I would like you to take it easy. When in doubt I want you on the couch watching your favorite TV show, hanging out with the kids. You can go out to dinner with your partner. By no means are you bedbound, but when in doubt, I want you sitting down and relaxing.

You must avoid lifting anything more than 10 to 20 pounds for those first three days. And that includes any children. So if you’re able to get some help with any childcare that would be recommended. If you’re thinking about getting back to the gym, any heavy physical activity, whether it be in the bedroom as well, I typically recommend waiting at least a week for anything really strenuous.

I have had men feel so well at day four and five that they do go back to things and some of them regret it. So if it’s really exertional, give it a full week, most day to day stuff, three days. If you have a desk job, work remotely, I have people go back to work the same day or even the next day.

So you listen to your body and whatever recovery you need, but most people by three to seven days are back to full activities.
